Systems
Thinking
Systems thinking is not a new way of
thinking; it is about learning to think in new ways. The principles
that apply to all open systems apply to our human systems with four
additional differentiating factors we call the "4 Cs"
of Human Systems: Consiousness, Culture, Choice & Creativity. |
Leadership
All systems evolve around influential centers.
In human systems, leadership is the capacity to catalyze growth
and change. Leadership is a practice, not a position. Regardless
of one's formal role within a group, organization or even society,
leadership skills empower us to make a difference and create the
future we want. |
Diversity
The principle of requisite variety asserts that
a system must be at least as diverse as its containing environment
in order to sustain itself and remain viable. Our natural tendency
toward affinity and homogenization must be transcended in order
for us to truly leverage the gifts of our human diversity. |
Conscious Evolution
According to Bela Banathy, cultural evolution
took precedence over biological evolution in humans some 35,000
years ago during the age of the cro-magnon. We have the ability,
the right and the responsibility to consiously guide our individual
and collective evolution. |
Dialogue
Dialogue is rooted in the Greek word dialogos,
literally meaning through (dia) the meaning of the
word (logos)." Dialogue is the capacity for human discourse
to create something new. It is a method through which human systems
can guide their own evolution, and consciously create viable futures
for themselves. |
Sustainability
Our societies and our cultures can only remain
viable if the environments that support us are sustainable. We all
can make a difference in the stewardship of our natural world. |
